Moving Checklist
6 – 8 Weeks Before Your Move
Fill out an online inventory. This will ensure your moving estimate is more accurate. Let Boundless Moving & Storage know if you will pack or you want to take advantage of our Convenient and Stress-reducing Packing Services [link]. We suggest you keep a moving folder with all quote information, important phone numbers, and any other important moving information. Organization is key to reducing stress. Remember to leave a day in-between your move and your closing so you can have a cleaning crew come in to tidy things up a bit.
5 Weeks
Go through each room and create three categories – Keep, Donate, and Discard. Boundless Moving & Storage offers a free donation service on select dates. Have your items inspected by your insurance company if needed. Take photos so you have them if necessary.
4 Weeks
If you are packing your own items, purchase moving supplies. Don’t forget to stock up on things like boxes, tape, colored duct tape for easy labeling, wrapping material, bubble wrap, etc. Colored tape will save you time and money by color-coding rooms for the movers.
3 Weeks
Pack any items you won’t need in the next month – include things like the contents of your garage, attic, storage, out-of-season clothes, holiday decorations, books, special occasion dishware, etc. Don’t forget to put colored tape on the boxes as soon as they are packed so you don’t have to go back and open them up.
2 Weeks
Remember to print out our moving checklist. This is the time you’ll be packing the bulk of your items. Also, this is when you will want to do things like transferring utilities, changing mailing info, etc.
1 Week
Finish packing. We suggest a plastic bin with anything you will need for the first night or two. Things like bedding, toiletries, toilet paper, tools, cleaning supplies, snacks, and of course any item that is irreplaceable, very valuable, or just plain a sentimental item you couldn’t live without. Be sure to go back over the moving checklist and the moving tips page to ensure you have everything ready.
Moving Day
Woo hoo! You’re almost there! Make sure you have correct payment for the movers – if you are paying by credit card, they will need the credit card at the offload. Let the movers know of any restrictions driving to your new residence or at the new residence. When you arrive at the new residence put the moving key with colors up for the movers so they don’t have to chase you down at your new home.
